Unfortunately... the AFQOL Cut-a-thon is no more!

On behalf of Artists For Quality Of Life (AFQOL) it is with sincere disappointment I (personally) must formally announce:

THE 8TH ANNUAL DONNIE PETERS MEMORIAL CUT-A-THON IS officially... CANCELLED!

As most of you know, I recently moved to the coast to attend a family matter. Due to the lack of participation/enthusiasm... Calgary’s 100%-Volunteered, 3RD-party charity ...which for 7 years, consistently gave 100% directly to making a difference to the quality of life of those living with or affected by HIV/AIDS (ie: The Positive Living Lunch Program, transportation, Christmas and Food Bank hampers, vitamins, etc.) and for over 7 years has been able to create a family festival that is entirely volunteer driven/generated and produced, has retired.

On the bright side...WOW!!! What a great ride we had! For 7 years we made a difference by raising awareness of the lack of funding to ensure necessities for those living with HIV/AIDS. AFQOL also owned, by donation/sponsorship, all the tents, tables, chairs, etc! A self sufficient charity we were. We are happy to announce all has been donated to a retirement home that needs them. Even as we retire, AFQOL does it’s best to make a difference!

Because of AFQOL, fundraising charities/societies that previously were not comfortable donating funds to AIDS Calgary Awareness Association proved they actually could; donating directly to where it was needed and not have the funds absorbed by administration.

AFQOL broke all the rules!!

Donnie always said, “One person can make a difference.” Too true, but when it comes to AFQOL many did. I say a heartfelt and much deserved THANK YOU to all our volunteers and sponsors!

In closing my friends, quite frankly, WE accomplished more than I set out to do and Donnie is smiling from up above!!
